The GWM TANK 300 HEV has today been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by ANCAP, Australasia’s independent voice on vehicle safety.

The GWM TANK 300 HEV has today been awarded the maximum five-star safety rating by ANCAP, Australasia’s independent voice on vehicle safety.


GWM welcomes the fifth model gaining top level safety rating in the latest ANCAP test, thanks to its latest gen L.E.M.O.N. platform (Lightweight Electrification Multi-purpose Omni-protection, Networking) .

The GWM TANK 300 HEV was tested and assessed for its ability to physically protect occupants and other road users in a crash – through the suite of destructive crash tests – and its ability to prevent or minimize the severity of a crash with another vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist – through the range of active collision avoidance performance tests.

The overall 4 areas performance for GWM TANK 300 HEV as follows:

Adult Occupant Protection 88%

Child Occupant Protection 89%

Vulnerable Road User Protection 81%

Safety Assist 85%

Showcasing bold exterior design backed with world-class 4WD technology, a luxurious interior and advanced technology, the GWM Tank 300 is poised to become a strong option for those looking to explore various roads, tracks and beyond.

“Normally, perceptions for such boxy 4x4s are more focused on the terrain performance. However, GWM TANK 300 is able to offer both performance and safety at the same time thanks to great engineering efforts put into the structure and tech level of this beast.” said Parker Shi, head of overseas division of GWM.

Built on GWM’s global off-road platform, the GWM Tank 300 has been designed to perform in all conditions. Generous ground clearance of 224mm matched to a 33° approach angle and 34° departure angle, combined with proven 4WD technology  facilitate challenging off-road adventures.
